What this looks like in practice

A camp day outdoors is paced slowly, with room for long stretches of play. Children might wander a meadow, dig in the soil, splash in a brook, sing, listen to a story, do a simple craft, and rest in a hammock or a shaded nook. Campers plan for the weather and come home tired and full of what they found.

That mix of free play and unhurried time outdoors does something a screen-free summer at home cannot. Children build friendships, learn the land they walk on, and carry a steadiness back into the school year. Many parents notice an easier bedtime and a child who talks about the day all the way home.

Five children sit and lie near a small campfire beside a rocky stream, holding sticks with food over the flames.
