Sweet Clover Nursery is a year-round childcare program in Montpelier, VT, operating Monday through Friday. The curriculum of care is informed by Waldorf education and the principles developed by pediatrician Emmi Pikler. Children are cared for with warmth and respect in a caring, rhythmic environment.
The daily rhythm balances active and rest times and includes creative free play inside and out, practical work such as baking, cleaning, and folding laundry for older children, organic snacks, storytelling, and singing. As children are ready, families can ask about the next Early Childhood program and the admission process.
In a nursery room for children birth to three, the day moves at a child's pace. There is time for free play, indoors and out, and for rest. Caregivers sit close, sing, tell stories, and help with practical work like baking, cleaning, and folding. Babies are fed and napped on their own rhythms.
At pickup, parents often see the small signs: a child who settles faster at bedtime, tries a new food, or carries a song home. Being part of a mixed-age group gives younger children someone to watch and older children someone to help. Ask the teachers how your child's day went.
